The Guide’s Perspective | Spring 2025

As we find ourselves at the start of a remarkable summer festive season, we look back at a beautiful Spring season. We also acknowledge a year that saw a successful expansion and evolution of the African Lynx experience, which is fundamentally down to the dedication of our incredible team. Our HQ and talented guiding team are the very soul of this company, working tirelessly with skill and passion to deliver seamless, deeply connecting experiences that our guests cherish. This commitment ensures that the mission we established – to help guests connect with our home and know they have experienced something extraordinary – is not just achieved, but surpassed, on every single journey.

African Lynx was one of the first in South Africa to take delivery of a brand-new VW Transporter Life – an impressive addition to our fleet. 

We had the opportunity to plan one of the most incredible mountain stops for a special guest. On the back of a peninsula flight, we added a stop in the Jonkershoek valley, near Stellenbosch, for a botanical-focused hike followed by a picnic lunch.

Our inner city walking food tour, The Tale of Two Cities, is a firm guest favourite. Guests are immersed in the multitude of cultures and cuisines of the Cape Town city centre.

Words cannot do this view justice. Guests pose with the painting-like expansive views of Cape Town, including Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, the Cape Town Stadium, the CBD, harbour and Robben Island in the background.

After a strenuous hike up Platteklip to the summit of Table Mountain, our guides pull out the perfect coffee stop from their backpacks.

Or if a sundowner on Table Mountain’s summit is on the cards, some local Cap Classique and snacks are served.

We had the opportunity to guide a large group of special guests. They had an incredible few days of food, wine, golf and fun, with four private guides and vehicles allocated to the group. Having multiple guides and vehicles allocated means we can be ultra-flexible. While some guests played a round of golf, others enjoyed a leisurely lunch at The Table at De Meye, pictured here.

The group came together for our largest gourmet picnic to date in Cape Point. Our guides put on an immaculate spread, led by our picnic queen, Jacqui.
