Ideally set amongst the vineyards and oak trees, The Table at De Meye offers the perfect farm style eating setting. The couple duo, chef Brendan and hostess Leigh provide an unforgettable farm to table dining experience. Both are passionate about food, where it is sourced from, how it is prepared, how it is served and most importantly how it is enjoyed.
Upon arrival, you are welcomed by the friendly De Meye team and either shown to your table or invited into the quaint tasting room where you can enjoy a tasting of the farm’s wines. This is recommended as you can then choose which of their wines you would prefer with your meal. Slowly make your way to your table, and once seated under the leafy trees, hostess Leigh explains the organic ethos behind the daily menu.
The local, seasonal produce is shared family style on stylish and quirky dishes and platters. The menu is ever changing and naturally guided by the produce of the kitchen garden, as well as those from neighbouring farms in the area. Small scale farmers and deli’s are celebrated and supported, which you will learn from the stories told as you dine. Leigh explains the origin of produce ranging from the olives at Babylonstoren, to the crispy warm sourdough from Joostenberg. Everything on your plate is ethically sourced from the very best producers.
The set three-course sharing menu is accompanied by a light pink rosé, unwooded chardonnay or a syrah – all of which are suitably paired for your lunch. After hours of enjoying a delicious spread, take your glass (or bottle) of wine and relocate to their impeccable lawn, where picnic blankets are provided for that post lunch chill.
This unpretentious and idyllic setting will leave you with a wholesome sense of nostalgia that will keep you coming back for more. A truly special day out and highly recommended by the African Lynx Team.
Important info to note, The Table is open for lunch Wednesday – Sunday.
They cater especially for children if arranged beforehand. Children aged 6-12 years can be charged 50% for half portions of the set menu or opt for the ‘kiddies menu’.
In the event of rain, guests are seated in the cosy indoor seating areas.
