Regenerative Travel with African Lynx

views 58

Imagine if every traveller left a destination a little better than they found it.

The improvements to the social and the natural environment would be noticeable with immediate effect.

Ecotourism today is usually characterised by the concept of sustainable travel; which is to counterbalance the social and environmental impact created directly or indirectly by tourists. However, this is merely slowing down the level of degradation.

Regenerative travel is born from the circular economy model where waste is designed out of a system, materials are reused, repaired and up-cycled and natural systems are regenerated.

It is our responsibility as African Lynx to play our part in protecting our beloved home for future generation travellers and locals, and we have learnt that you cannot have a sustainable destination without regeneration.

As a result, we are constantly developing experiences which fall under our new Regenerative genre. These are experiences which allow guests themselves to participate in the conservation of the Capes natural environment and to have meaningful interaction with locals and communities. Most importantly these experiences allow you to leave the Cape knowing that you have left it a little better than you found it.

So to place our destination needs (i.e. Cape Town and the greater Western Cape’s needs) at the centre of tourism, we will be encouraging every traveller to include at least one Regenerative Experience into their itinerary with African Lynx.
