The Best Dining Location in Africa?

views 126

The finest dining in perhaps the finest location in Africa, if not the world. The new Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic. Our experience specialist, SJ, dined at the new establishment as a birthday treat and these are her words.

For my birthday this year, the top item on my wish list was to dine at the new Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a deep love for food and as a result, I value foodie experiences above everything else. So a gift to go dine at the most talked about restaurant in Cape Town since it’s opening in November last year was definitely the highlight.

It was as exceptional as I could have ever imagined.

On arrival you are blown away by the restaurant’s unique setting – sandwiched between the Atlantic ocean and Chapmans Peak mountain – it is nothing you have ever seen before. Once you are seated next to the ocean, you feel quite removed from the rest of the Cape Town. Liam Tomlin mentions in an article ‘the location is surely one of the best dining rooms in South Africa, if not the entire world’ and I couldn’t agree more.

We decided to enjoy our starters and cocktails on the couches right at the edge of the deck while watching the sunset. If the weather is good, I suggest getting there early and doing the same! It was a highlight of the evening for all of us. The menu runs along the same format as the other Chefs Warehouses where 8 tapas dishes for two are served as a set menu. We opted to add the bread service and oysters to start and we shared two incredible desserts. Dietaries are taken into consideration.

Strong ocean elements feature in the menu throughout as most of the menu’s inspiration draws from the endless Atlantic ocean views. Think oysters, sashimi, langoustines and scallops – you get to have it all. The food was really out of the ordinary. Course after course was a surprise and flavour combinations were unexpected yet exceptional.

The service is seamless. From the chauffeurs who drive you down from the parking area (situated high above) to the restaurant, the hostess welcoming you at the front door, the runners and our assigned waiter – they were excellent and did not miss a beat.

Dining at Chefs Warehouse for lunch or dinner is an absolute must while in Cape Town – there is nothing quite like it. Allow African Lynx to incorporate this experience into your itinerary. It works exceptionally well when exploring the Cape Peninsula. Stop for a late lunch after visiting Cape Point & Boulders beach or we can plan for you to arrive in time for sundowners.
